Chicago's Newberry Library has an extensive collection of humanities-focused contemporary literature and rare printed works spanning six centuries. They offer many resources for researchers and the public through programs, seminars, and events.
Extensive development went into organizing thousands of nodes to help surface information about the library's centers and collections as well as blogs, news, upcoming exhibitions, and an event calendar.
Workflow and LDAP integration with the library's Active Directory environment gave the staff an editorial process to review and publish their specific content, and Nutch integrated with Apache Solr allowed searches of both the site and external library resources.
